If you think trends only apply to fashion and decoration, that is not always true. There are also building guidelines for a single house or a collective housing.

For this overview of trends, we will focus more specifically on siding and colored coatings. Recently and thanks to the rise of ITE (Thermal Insulation by the Exterior), more and more people are using cladding. Whether it is made of wood, composite, PVC, fiber-cement or metal, the given style will be only different. For example, for a Scandinavian style, opt for a wood cladding (real or imitation) while for an industrial style, metal will be a must. 
Don’t be afraid to dare color with a colored coating. Bi-tone and even tri-tone are very popular. Choose a blue grey (Stormy Weather reference) for a more timeless look or a brown red (Marsala reference) for more character and highlight one of the strengths of a construction. You really want to stand out: take a golden yellow (Oak Buff reference).

White is almost always a sure thing, as it is a clean color that looks good and can potentially be customized with bright borders. When considering shutters and trim, white and blue have been household favourites for years. The combination is logical because white is already very popular and blue is such a versatile friend . 
There are hundreds of shades of blue, all of which fit perfectly with white. Deciding among them depends on two main factors. One of these factors is your preference, as well as the atmosphere you are trying to create. The second depends on your climate. In the south, the bright blue works well in the more open and luminous landscapes. In the north, deeper blue-grey trees are part of landscapes populated by evergreen plants and harmonize with the sky season. 
The other popular colors of the exterior of the houses are the cream, beige, yellow and pale versions of green gray. Among the darker colors, brown is very popular. 
 
The clear fittings reflect the heating and lighting effects of the sun. In addition, if you have a large house on a small plot, as is the case in many narrow suburban subdivisions, the light-colored houses can make this size difference even more dramatic. Darker tones can help balance the house and the earth. 
So, whether you want to blend in with the style of the region or stand out in an ocean of houses, you now know which colors are predominant and which factors interest you. Should take it into account when making your decision. Now, take out your roll and start painting. 

 
 

 

Color in architecture - is excess of color possible? 
   
Everyone is asking this question – it doesn’t matter if it applies to clothing, hair or the room code color. Colors have an impact on our lives, they pass energy and have character. The natural and harmonious colors of the architectural Polychrome create ambiances. The colors chosen by Le Corbusier are harmonious in themselves and can be combined in an impressive way, in any way and in any form. This is essential, especially in architecture, since colors rarely appear in isolation. This is why colors and combination possibilities are essential – all the more so for a color design intended to fuel an interior design, but also for the choice of colors in architecture. Color depends on context, space, quality, density, intensity, quantity, combination and light. So, what does it mean “a lot of color”? A small, intense stain in a room can already be perceived as “a lot of color. All surfaces such as walls, ceilings and floors may appear in different shades, finally adjusted, and may not be perceived as “a lot of color”. On the other hand, if the combination is made according to a blatant imbalance, not thought out beforehand, the color can cause a damaging effect.
